Helping women touched by cancer become mothers.
Ovarian Tissue Preservation Explained Visually.

Ovarian Tissue Preservation discussed in detail on Channel 7 News, Denver.

One of the newest advancements in the world of fertility is ovarian tissue preservation; doctors remove part or all of an ovary in a one-hour outpatient surgical procedure. The tissue that is removed is divided into thin strips, each of which contains hormone-producing cells and immature eggs. The tissue is then frozen and stored for future use. When the tissue is re-implanted into the body, hormone function can be temporarily restored.

23 year-old cancer survivor, Abbey Bott, is one of the first world-wide to undergo this procedure.

Bott says, “Probably the most devastating thing for me was coming home from that appointment where I was told I needed to do something about my fertility, because I didn’t know that that could be a problem.”

We, at Fertile Action are here to help women, like Bott, who have been touched by cancer become mothers. We offer education, advocacy and financial aid to women who apply. This includes the ovarian tissue preservation procedure, as well as egg freezing, embryo freezing and adoption resources. More information about what Fertile Action does can be found by visiting our Baby After Cancer page.
